Earth Site Specific Installation -
"Cherokees and Pleiades Connection" |
In 1990 I was living in Western North Carolina and actively into my Native American studies. I had done
portraits of six of the Cherokee people
and in talking with them, learned of their origins in the Pleiades.
That information inspired the earth site specific installation I
created. My intention was to show and experience the connection of the
energies of the Pleiades and the Cherokees and to acknowledge Mother
Earth and peoples experience of her.
Students came from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC one
Tuesday evening in October 1990. There was almost a full moon and it
lit our way as we walked hand in hand up the hill to the medicine
wheel. Six women walk in silence up the hill hand in hand to the
medicine wheel. From the women at Warren Wilson College: "Oh Great
Spirit, we are grateful to have the opportunity to be here now for this celebration - A Ho".
